New Timed Comments Feature in YouTube to Provide More Context and Maximum Engagement in Video Playback

A new comment display option is tested by Youtube, which will display viewer comments at distinct, timed points within the playback. It could provide more context on their purposes and meaning, while also highlighting where the best  discussion is happening around each video clip.    YouTube is testing it on Android and iOS for selected videos and with a small group of YouTubers. It is the latest feature that’s part of the “YouTube test features and experiments” program. This feature of Youtube will allow you to add comments and links to a specific section of the video clips.  This will make it simple for users to seek out which precise moment commenters are talking about.    YouTubers who are part of this testing will see a new tool called “Timed Beta” under the Sort button in the comments section. Clicking on this may give users the alternatives to feature timestamps to their comments. These timed comments will actually be very helpful to users. It’s also very common to see users posting comments with the exact timestamp to suitably explain what they’re talking about.   To do that you simply need to pause the video thereon the exact timestamp mentioned within the comment. With this feature, users are going to be ready to tap on the comment in which a particular moment of the video is going to be visible.   As you'll see during this example, shared by Android Police, the new timed comment display will mention viewer comments at the purpose during which they were made during the clip.   This feature is analogous to what Soundcloud offers users who can comment about specific parts of a song. Soundcloud shows small tick marks to point timed comments. YouTube’s timed comments feature also will presumably look an equivalent. Since the experiment is restricted and YouTube hasn’t shared any screenshots, it’s difficult to know exactly what the feature will appear as if. YouTube plans on rolling out this feature to more users supported feedback of the test. As explained by YouTube: "We’re currently testing a new feature that allows you to view comments timed to the exact moment you're watching in a video. This experiment is available on some videos to a small group of people and we'll consider rolling this out more broadly based on feedback." To check if you're within the test group, attend the comments section within the YouTube app (on iOS or Android) and tap the 'Sort' button at the rock bottom right of the playback window. If you've got access, you will see the "Timed Beta” option within the list.   Will that inspire more engagement on YouTube clips?   It's hard to mention, but it's certainly a stimulating option, which could have value in inspiring viewer behavior and engagement. It could also provide more insight into what viewers are engaging with most on your video clips. In a separate test, YouTube also recently started sharing new digital literacy tips within the sort of 15-second skippable ads that appear before selected clips.   The process is supposed to affect rising concerns around digital literacy, and people sharing fake reports, with the impact of misinformation causing significant division and angst. That's been particularly prevalent within the COVID-19 vaccine rollout, with vaccine misinformation running rife on social networks.YouTube says the test is being conducted with a little group of users within the US, while the ideas are being shown randomly, with the content of the video they are available before not associated with their placement.
